Mark E. Sofge

Mark Sofge serves as Managing Partner of Piedmont Private Equity, Yukon Consultants, and Piedmont Energy.

Mr. Sofge has spoken locally and nationally on various real estate and investment related topics. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP).

Mr. Sofge joined Bank of America’s Private Wealth Management group where as Vice President, his responsibilities included business development, tax and estate planning, the restructuring of operating companies for tax efficiency purposes and the reorganization of real estate development companies throughout the southeast. He later joined Wachovia Bank, NA as Senior Vice President and Partner in the Wealth Management and Financial Planning group, where he managed a portfolio of over $1.4 billion.

Mr. Sofge currently lives in the metro Atlanta area. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, golfing, and fly fishing. He is an active member of the Financial Planners Association, the Urban Land Institute, and the Blue Ridge chapter of Trout Unlimited. He is also a member of various community and volunteer organizations and is an active member of his church.


Walter M. Hall

Walter M. Hall serves on the board of Piedmont Private Equity and is a Managing Member of Yukon Property Consultants, a consulting firm specializing in conservation strategies and implementation.

Mr. Hall has spoken locally and nationally on various real estate related topics. Additionally, his writings have been published in a varying array of periodicals, including The Tar Heel Banker and Trust & Estates Magazine. He holds certifications as a Senior Real Property Appraiser as well as a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (by the American Bankers Association).

Mr. Hall obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, majoring in Business Administration. He is also a graduate of the North Carolina Outward Bound School. Mr. Hall attended The Ohio State University completing his certification as a Senior Real Property Appraiser. He later attended Columbia Theological Seminary where he received a Master in Ethics.

Mr. Hall joined BB&T as an in-house appraiser where he managed real estate development and construction lending functions. He later worked as a project manager for Spectrum Marketing, a North Carolina based firm specializing in the development of retirement communities. He spent over twenty years with Wachovia Bank, NA where he managed tax planning initiatives for high net worth individuals and real estate developers in the southeastern US.

Mr. Hall currently lives in the metro Atlanta area with his wife, Jill, and he has three children. In his spare time, he enjoys non- fiction reading, tennis, and snow skiing. He is a volunteer with the Greater Atlanta Council, Boy Scouts of America, and the Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association. He and his family continue to be active at Trinity Presbyterian Church.


Tim D. Monks

Tim D. Monks joined Piedmont Private Equity in 2012 as CFO. He has responsibility for the firm’s tax, accounting, and reporting activities, as well as investor liaison duties.

Mr. Monks began his professional career in 1988 in the Atlanta tax practice of Price Waterhouse (now Pricewaterhouse Coopers). Subsequently, Tim launched his own CPA firm which specialized in income tax planning to partnerships, corporations and individuals. After leaving public accounting in 1994, Tim worked as a financial executive in the real estate, healthcare, business services, and technology sectors, successfully leading diverse turnaround and growth businesses. Until 2012, he was SVP Finance of Formation Capital, an Atlanta-based $4 billion real estate investment firm. Previously, he held CFO and SVP Finance positions with three private equity portfolio companies. More than two dozen business acquisitions and divestitures have closed under his financial leadership.

In the private sector, Tim has provided broad tax leadership in the area of state and local taxes, research and development tax credits, deferred income taxes, and real estate partnership taxation.

A Certified Public Accountant, Tim holds a Master of Accountancy degree with a Tax Concentration from the University of Tennessee and a BSBA degree (Accounting Major) from the University of Tennessee.


Eric B. Conkright

Eric B. Conkright serves as the Vice President of Finance for Piedmont Private Equity and Piedmont Energy Connection (PEC VELO).

Eric spent a decade in public accounting, advising high net-worth individuals and businesses in consulting and tax planning with middle market firms including super-regional firm Carr Riggs & Ingram, LLC and Top 100 firm Frazier & Deeter, LLC. His experience includes complex tax matters such as transactional planning for mergers and acquisitions and results-driven tax planning services including entity formation and selection, evaluating tax equity investment strategies, and wealth transition through estate and trust planning.

Eric holds a CPA designation and obtained his Masters of Accounting at Kennesaw State University and a Bachelor of Business Administration with Georgia State University.

Eric is an active member with the American Institute of CPAs and Georgia Society of CPAs and serves in the community through Northside Church in Roswell, GA and various local volunteer organizations.


Brice Hall

Brice Hall is the Director of Investor Relations of Piedmont Private Equity, serving as a key liaison amongst investors and third party advisors and professionals.

Brice spent a decade in the public accounting realm with “Big 4” and middle market firms. His experience was concentrated in real estate development and management, manufacturing and nonprofit clients. He followed his public accounting tenure serving as the Corporate Controller for two real estate firms in the Carolinas.

Brice obtained his Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition, he received a Masters of Accounting and Finance from the University’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.


Lauren Barnett

Lauren Barnett joined Piedmont Private Equity as general legal counsel in 2012.

Ms. Barnett began her career in Atlanta after graduating from law school at the University of Alabama.

Ms. Barnett is an active member of the Georgia Bar Association, the Junior League of Atlanta, and various community and volunteer organizations.


Benjamin B. Ingold

Benjamin B. Ingold joined Piedmont Private Equity (PPE) as in-house counsel in the fall of 2014. Mr. Ingold is a transactional attorney and is responsible for advising PPE in connection with real estate acquisition, disposition, development, leasing, land use and title matters. He also counsels PPE regarding corporate structures, including joint ventures, and a broad range of general corporate matters.

Mr. Ingold attended Wake Forest University and earned All-American (baseball), Academic All-American, and Cum Laude honors. After graduating from Wake Forest University, he played professional baseball with the Oakland Athletics organization and then turned his attention to the legal field. He studied law at the University of North Carolina School of Law, and began his career in Durham, NC practicing business and commercial real estate law with Kennon Craver, PLLC. In 2013, he moved to Atlanta to focus primarily on real estate transactions with Ballard Spahr, LLP, an Am-Law 200 firm headquartered in Philadelphia.

Benjamin is active in his communities and has served on the board of local non-profit organizations and community-based organizations such as Playworks Durham and Southwest Durham Rotary Club. He is an avid outdoorsman and spends as much time as he can hiking and fishing.


Greg Saul

Greg Saul joined Piedmont Private Equity in June 2014. His responsibilities include market feasibility, acquisitions and dispositions of land tracts for Piedmont Private Equity’s distressed asset funds.

Prior to joining Piedmont Private Equity, Greg owned or operated real estate land acquisition companies for nearly 15 years, with a focus on purchase and disposition of distressed single-family residential properties. Greg ran the land acquisition division with Grace Development Corporation and was an integral part of the land acquisition team at Paran Homes, LLC with purchases and dispositions totaling over 600 million.

Most recently, Greg was a partner at Azalea Homes, a residential builder in Atlanta, where he was responsible for purchase negotiations, data collection and assessment, financing, and the management of all capital accounts.

Greg’s breadth of land acquisition experience and his attention to detail are strong complements to the Piedmont team.

Greg was born in Canada and moved to Atlanta in 1987 with the Electrolux Corporation. He currently lives in Cobb County with his wife, and they have two children. Greg is a member of Saint Catherine’s of Siena Roman Catholic Church in Kennesaw.


Caroline Worth-Bruno

Caroline Worth-Bruno joined Piedmont Private Equity in 2012, as an administrative assistant & now serves as the Director of Public Affairs. In addition to managing the office, Caroline is also responsible for all the presentations & books that highlight the conservation eligibility of the firm’s projects. With her background in drawing & painting, Caroline has brought an artistic eye to the marketing department at PPE. 

Caroline is an Atlanta native & lives in the Old Fourth Ward with her husband & their pets. She is an active member of her community & volunteers as a survivor advocate at Day League in DeKalb County.
